Department Profile and Mission

MISSION STATEMENT

The Clayton County Fire Department is committed to protecting the people and property within our community. We will be responsive to the needs of our citizens by providing rapid, professional, humanitarian services essential to the health, safety, and well-being of the community.

We will accomplish our mission through prevention, education, fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other related emergency and non-emergency activities. We will actively participate in our community, serve as role models, and strive to effectively and efficiently utilize all of the necessary resources at our command to provide a product deemed excellent by our citizens.

"Always Ready, Proud to Serve"

The Clayton County Fire Department responds to over 25,000 emergencies a year in the community. We have almost 300 members in the Department. Strong effort is made to maintain a Class 3 ISO rating. That reduces the cost of fire insurance for homeowners and businesses in the county. We provide emergency and non-emergency response services.

The Clayton County Fire Department staffs three shifts at 14 stations covering the 142 square mile area of Clayton County.

Approximately 70% of calls we respond to are medical emergencies. By utilizing EMS transport units (ALS and BLS engine companies), we are able to provide the best services. The Clayton County Fire Department goes beyond the everyday firefighting skills by training personnel in specialties like confined space rescue, trench rescue, rope rescue, hazardous material operations, and both SWAT and bicycle medics.
