Department
Profile and Mission
The Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services responds to over 27,000 emergencies a year in the community. We have almost 300 members in the Department. Strong effort is made to maintain a Class 3 ISO rating. That reduces the cost of fire insurance for homeowners and businesses in the county. We provide emergency and non-emergency response services. The Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services staffs three shifts at 14 stations covering the 142 square mile area of Clayton County. Approximately 70% of calls we respond to are medical emergencies. By utilizing EMS transport units (ALS and BLS engine companies), we are able to provide the best services. The Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services goes beyond the everyday firefighting skills by training personnel in specialties like confined space rescue, trench rescue, rope rescue, hazardous material operations, and both SWAT and bicycle medics.
