Department
Profile and Mission
The Clayton County Fire Department responds to over 25,000 emergencies a year in the community. We have almost 300 members in the Department. Strong effort is made to maintain a Class 3 ISO rating. That reduces the cost of fire insurance for homeowners and businesses in the county. We provide emergency and non-emergency response services. The Clayton County Fire Department staffs three shifts at 14 stations covering the 142 square mile area of Clayton County. Approximately 70% of calls we respond to are medical emergencies. By utilizing EMS transport units (ALS and BLS engine companies), we are able to provide the best services. The Clayton County Fire Department goes beyond the everyday firefighting skills by training personnel in specialties like confined space rescue, trench rescue, rope rescue, hazardous material operations, and both SWAT and bicycle medics.
