There is only so much that government in general and Clayton County Emergency Management in particular can do to protect the public from the threat of emergencies and disasters. Ultimately your safety and that of your family and loved ones depends to a large degree on what you are willing to do for yourself. In other words you have a personal role in Emergency Management to be responsible, aware, and prepared. Because you are the first line of defense against disaster.

Clayton County Emergency Management can provide the citizens of Clayton County with a number of specific services to increase their awareness and preparedness.

  • Complete library of pamphlets, brochures, booklets and videotapes on disaster preparedness which are available free of charge.

  • Public service announcements and stories on local cable TV, as well as, related articles in the newspapers.

  • An annual County-Wide Tornado Drill.

  • Presentations to businesses, organizations, groups neighborhood associations, clubs, churches, schools, etc., on topics of interest.

  • Onsite “walk-throughs” and inspections of facilities with recommendations as appropriate.

  • Assistance in developing, reviewing and revising disaster preparedness plans and drills for families, business, organizations, clubs, churches and schools, etc.

  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.
