The mission of Clayton County Emergency Management is to make every effort to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Clayton County from all types of major emergencies and disaster both natural and manmade.

This mission is accomplished through a comprehensive emergency management program. One tool used is the County Emergency Operations Plan. This plan highlights the responsibilities, activities and actions of all county departments and their responses to the effects of disasters and emergencies.

The mission is also accomplished by encouraging citizens to prepare family preparedness plans and to take the necessary steps to ensure their survival for the first 72 hours after a major disaster. This will allow sufficient time for outside assistance to arrive

Clayton County Emergency Management, the Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services and the cities within the county assist the citizens in preparing by providing guidance, publications and Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training. The Sheriff’s Office, Clayton County Police Department and City Police Departments are very active in neighborhood watch programs. The City of Morrow has been recognized for it’s outstanding program helping the citizens in preparedness programs.
